service

i have to admit, when i am on the hotline seeking enquiries, i am one tough ass to handle. i am so for the following reasons..

1) i prepare tons of questions before the call in hope to clear all counts in one call.
yes, that is me. i don't mind people spamming me with questions in one call compared to getting spammed with calls from the same person. so with that in mind, i always make sure i have all doubts on paper before i make the call to clarify them all. spamming questions in one call is better to spam the number of calls.

2) i won't accept too simple or generic answers to my questions.
i don't know about you, i cannot stand those taking calls to give such replies. this sort of hint that he/she is unhappy with what he/she is doing. well, too bad you got yourself this job, deal with it. this also hint that he/she wants to end the call quick. well, sorry to disappoint you but if i get such replies i would always rephrase my questions and ask over and over again until i get a satisfactory reply. that's the purpose of the help line anyway.

3) i won't accept answers that can be found in FAQs of the host's website.
before i call i would definitely read those FAQs, i'm not one of those idiots that would not read and dive straight to the help line. when i ask something similar to questions in the FAQs, means i want in depth answers and what not. so again, if i fail to get what i want i would rephrase my question and ask over and over again.

with those being said, i'm sure many of you would be hoping you won't be at the help desk receiving my queries. haha i can understand but i can promise that i won't ask dumb questions or what not.

so anyway, the fact that i brought this up is due to the fact that in recent months and weeks, due to the fact that there are numerous admin issues to settle, i have called the individual help lines and what not spamming questions to the receiver. at times, i can hear the mild sigh the receiver let off minutes into the call and i don't blame them. rather i would actually love to thank them. i don't know them personally but still want to thank them for accepting questions from a demanding caller. so, thank you. :)

the hall misconception

staying in residence or hall in your university campus is definitely a good thing. let's see.. it is convenient, you are surrounded with friends all the time, you learn to be independent, you get to wake up minutes before first class, you get to nap in between long breaks.. and the list goes on and on.

point is, yeah for me staying in hall is really a privilege and i am really happy about it. nonetheless, somehow i know there are always misconceptions of people staying. none taken personal but i just wish to clarify one thing.. haha. yeah, one of those nights i choose to type something random here based on something random i heard some time ago.

people who stay in all are super free. nope. in fact, i won't be surprise if those people staying in residences or hall are more busy than those who don't. yes, we save tons of time traveling but we have commitments. we have numerous CCAs to participate in. we have night events rather often which we are obliged to join. after those, we tend to be super tired and what not. so after washing up and resting a little.. we would definitely knock out into dreamland pretty soon. these lead us to having limited time to do much productive work or even personal free time.

don't get me wrong.. i am not complaining at all. i just feel that i have to clarify this fact. i'm happy for the chance to be staying in hall at least for the first year. whether if i can for next couple years, i can only try and hope for the best.

tests

as September continues.. my tutees prepare for their PSLE. the first ever major exam and key milestone in primary school. as they prepare hard, i too prepare hard for my first exam in years as well.. yes, mid-terms. mine will be starting in 30th September. really nervous, to be honest.

why?

well, to start off.. if you remembered i mentioned about not getting used to this student life after being a NSF for last two years.. so of course the exam pressure is kind of like new to me. not literally new but you get my point. so yeah.. fingers crossed as i catch up frantically on my academics. when i mug, my tutees are mugging too. all the best to them and me. haha..
