opponents not enemies

stayed up to watch the England match against Uruguay early this morning at 3am. the result was 2-1 win by Uruguay over England. nonetheless, the match was great and full of great moments. moments ranging from good goals to good saves to respect.. like this one below.

Gerrard and Suarez are teammates back in Liverpool but are opponents yesterday. Suarez double nailed England down to the ground sending them to s struggle to qualify from group stage. the winner goal was somehow Gerrard's mistake but yet Suarez did have humility to comfort his dear friend and Liverpool captain. rather emotional moment. on top of that, Suarez was in tears after he scored the winner. you know shit is real when a footballer has tears. the amount of pressure and expectations on him must be great and that crucial winner goal must have lighten the great burden.

nonetheless, both teams fought really hard and well the result is just the result. painful to some, relief to others.. beautiful game no matter.

goodbye champions

in 2010, they won the World Cup. in 2008 and 2012, they won the Euro Cup. in 2014, they are eliminated from the World Cup at the earliest stage.. the group stage. it looks like the golden era of Spain is slowly disappearing. as a fan of Spain for 12 years now, i feel really sad and sorry for them. then again, their performance this time round wasn't really good enough to be deserved a spot in the top 16. well, one of my two teams is out. one remains.. Germany. let's hope they will go on to be champion.

okay, i not it is not really nice to make fun of any country names but that is pretty creative.. so much so i had to share it via a blog post title. if you are clueless, the word obviously comes from the Portugal. unfortunately, Portugal lost last night to Germany with a nightmare 4-0. poor performance leading to poor results. one man cannot carry a national team forever.

the first disappointment was Pepe's straight red card after a mini headbutt incident. pretty silly thing to do especially when his initial foul on a German player was overlooked. his temper has made him a regular ticking time bomb.. easily manipulated. Muller was just smart. next disappointment was Nani's performance. bad passes, bad dribbling, bad shots. no excuses.. bad.

credit to Germany's Muller.. he was exceptional brilliant throughout his play time. nonetheless, the game was still an exciting one with numerous dramas and what not.. if you are interested to see the highlights, here it is..
