legendary hype

yes this is an update of my life.

while many of my peers are done with internship, i still have two more weeks. i think it is amusing though.. how things work out to comfort me on the fact that i will not have a week of rest before school starts. having the need to head to work means i have to wander around. as i am wandering around i get to catch some legendary Pokemon as well.. haha. the line up of them is coincidentally the last few weeks of summer before school starts anyway.

so yeah.. additional motivation to head to work. without work i will opt to stay home more days then i head out to prevent excessive spending on food cravings and what not. ohh, the things i tell myself to comfort myself.

weeks ago, at the start of July, i had the notion that by the end of this month, the usual mundane need to bid for modules will begin as well. never did i expect that time will pass so fast and CORS bidding rounds have began on Friday with Round 0. well, it is so surreal to see the FYP module being allocated to me. i am entering year 4, though still young enough to find fun in Pokemon games. no, not childish.. i don't rage quit or throw tantrums if i fail at achieving something from the game.. haha.

yeah, well i think this legendary hype is good to force strangers to have fun together. strangers of all ages. moving away from Pokemon and back to CORS, i find myself not being able to allocate more time to explore my module options this time. partly because i prefer to sloth away on weekends rather than touch anything related to school. ohh wells, may the transition into the start of my final year be smooth.

this transition includes moving back to campus as well. will be moving in soon next weekend. ohh my.. so fast. then i get to stay in school and travel to work from there for a week. yeah to extra 90 minutes of sleep. until next time then, cheers.

mystic

yes this is an update of my life.

thank goodness now is still the summer break. the hype has died down for many but for me, i am still playing the game and following news about it rather closely. what's the game? well, i thought you would guess from the title of the blog post title. Pokemon Go, of course. last night, i stayed up a while to witness the first ever outdoor event held in Chicago Grant Park. well, turned out it was more of a failure than success but that wasn't the main think players around the world was looking forward to. we just look forward to the new legendary creatures to appear.

true enough, now Lugia and Articuno are out in the wild as raid bosses. managed to fight both of them this morning. tough to defeat. number and quality of players really do matter when challenging those two birds. defeated both but could not catch Lugia after running out of the white balls. nonetheless, i was glad to have the one that represented my team.. lol.

been waiting for so long and finally got my favourite legendary bird from the first generation. fun to go out and fight/hunt alongside strangers who set aside differences and chat with one another as we attempt to get those raid bosses.

ohh wells, back to reality.. when they become more rare i will get you one day, Lugia. now back home focused on my usual weekend routine of chilling and catching up on shows. then work week begins. until next time then, cheers.

Chester

yes this is an update of my life.

at last the end of the week is here. been so busy with the deliverables of the projects in internship past couple of days that i feel that i can hardly breathe at times. a big hurdle is over but the internship duration is not. i wonder what will be still in stall for me in the next three weeks. working solo has its perks and downfalls.

well for perks, the pace is up to me. i prefer to be very focus during office hours so as to not work overtime or bring work home. this method worked well for me so far. efficiency is great too. i get to clear things earlier than expected. i also get to say "pause" to myself and take a short break whenever stress is too overwhelming. i have to answer for myself only after all.

as for downfalls, the work i do is sensitive. small errors might be compounded. working alone means there will not be anyone to cross-check for you as often or maybe none at all. small mistakes made might not be spotted in an instant. they are only spotted when some shit is clearly evident. that's bad because back tracking and correcting is really tedious, especially when your work is based on so huge data and code writing.

ohh wells, all in all i am still loving this experience.i left two big deliverables before i end my three months of internship and head back to being a student.. a final year student.

work aside, woke up to a really unfortunate news this morning as well. as most of you ought to be aware by now, Linkin' Park's lead singer Chester Bennigton has passed away from apparent suicide. personally, i always find suicides as a very selfish way to die. yes, a huge shortcut but the pain is gone for one person but the pain grows for many more others.

nonetheless, it is really sad to have such a young talented singer from a era-defining group to leave the world like this. songs from Linkin' Park have been a huge part of my secondary school life. songs that are very unique and distinct from other songs out there. thanks for the awesome years and may you rest in peace, Chester.

time to wallow in slight sorrow as i re-visit the great pieces sung by him. until next time then, cheers.

annual hype

yes this is an update of my life.

kind of lagged to talk about "Game Of Thrones" season 7 episode 1 considering that i watched it as soon as i reached home on Monday evening. well, i'm not one who spoils the storyline and what not here. just have to say the way it started is exactly what you expect this kind of show would start with. with confusion at the start before going "ahh, that's the GoT i know". the scene cued well into the main theme opening.

you don't need me to tell you the episode's cameo. all you have to do is explore your social media sites. i'm sure more than one person would have mentioned something about the person. nonetheless, for those who have watched up to season 6 but not yet start on season 7, don't worry one episode behind only.. faster catch up. for those who still has not watch a single episode of GoT, i feel sorry for you.. haha. kidding. not.

anyway, i realised that around this time every year when GoT is playing i will be into a new hype created by myself to set the mood for the show. from reading fan theories to informational video on GoT.. this year i am listening to the background soundtracks of GoT. lol.. 6 albums but only at the first one now. ohh wells.. this one not so hurry.

back to the life of an intern. well, done with the major projects i guess. doing up the report and slides and what not. had a frantic time past couple of days scrambling to make edits and what not. i'm glad i have the focus to finish them today. office can be a disruptive place for focused work.. it is times when people gather to chat slightly longer and at slightly louder volume where earpieces come into good use. okay, slightly past my usual workday bedtime. until next time then, cheers.

west

yes this is an update of my life.

yeah you might just recognise the picture and the title of the post to know what i am going to highlight in this post. binge watching yet another show titled "Westworld". no, i have not yet watch all 10 episodes of season 1 but i am not very far behind. three more episodes left.. probably going to clear them all by end of this week.

well, i guess this show is a fairly well-written show. the suspense and mysteries are ever existing. this is a show that makes you think and twist your mind in a very interesting way. the acting and characters are awesome. so far so good.. wonder how will it end.

not that excited to know its ending as much as watching the new episodes of "Game of Thrones". season 7 begins soon and i really cannot wait to rush home after work to watch. this means i have to be off the social media platforms for a longer while until i am done with the episode. avoiding spoilers and what not of course. until next time then, cheers.

S7

yes this is an update of my life.

just got home from meeting friends who graduated from NUS today. well, officially that is. one year will soon fly by and before i know it, i will be the one wearing the robe and taking the most expensive paper in my life.. lol.

makes me wonder where will i be a year from know when i head up to the stage. will i be employed? will i be struggling to find a job? will i be happy with where i am? so many uncertainties. these uncertainties are scary and interesting at the same time.

okay, shan't focus too much on those thoughts. focusing on what will come next Monday.. not tomorrow.. but the following Monday. "Game of Thrones" season 7 will start to air for seven consecutive weeks. ohh my.. seriously cannot wait to carry on from where the series left off the last time. so much promise of more actions and what not. hope it will not disappoint. until next time then, cheers.

strange

yes this is an update of my life.

morning tuition got cancelled this morning as the tutee was sick. too bad i couldn't get back to sleep again after seeing the text message. haha.. if only i knew it would be cancelled last night. then there will not be any alarm set this morning and i can just sleep until near lunch time or something.

so waking up early like normal Saturdays just without going to tuition. figured had to do something useful. then i did, i did something "useful". finished watching the Netflix series Stranger Things.
yeah, yeah, i know i am many months late but i have other shows that i wanted to watch first. and it is only during summer break when there are less shows, hence the time to binge watch other shows that are not in priority list. i will not spoil the plot just going to highlight my thoughts.

this is a decent show considering the scale of marketing and what not before the release of the show. of course, upon its release, many good reviews poured in and ratings sky rocket. i've got to say that the ratings are overrated. please don't get me wrong, it is still a very good show nonetheless and one ought to watch. just don't set your expectations as high as the ratings. i still love the show but if not for the overrating, i would probably love it more.. lol.

i really love how the show introduce the plot and how the characters are built. the flow and storyline was neither too fast nor too slow. it was just right.. enough to keep you sitting on the edge but not get frustrated. the entire flow is decent.. good start, decent build up, good ending. i shall leave it as it is and let you watch on your own. until next time then, cheers.

the last third

yes this is an update of my life.

so i am in the final month of my internship.. okay, actually a month and a couple of days but nonetheless.. the last third of my internship period. while some days feel very long, i still find that time actually is moving very fast. probably too caught up with the tasks at hand to really appreciate that days are passing by. no, i'm not a drone or robot, just that i don't myself checking in on the date as often as i normally do.

away from internship, i have still so many answers that i am waiting to get from various parties. from things related to school to things related to reservist claims to other little little things. too many little things become an annoying situation. it is like having an ant crawling on you does not irritate you much.. but have like 6 doing so at the same time at different parts of your body.. now that is an annoying situation. hopefully, these answers come by soon.. real soon. silly things should not be adding to the stress i am facing in office. until next time then, cheers.

lion

yes this is an update of my life.

finally, after about 4 weeks of waking up to alarm clock, i can get to sleep in and wake up to no alarm clock tomorrow morning. had to make arrangements for one of my tutees to have classes on Sunday mornings previously. i always consider sleeping and waking to no alarm as a very good luxury.. lol i am easily satisfied that way.

a Sunday where i am free after a month. got so many personal things pending, waiting for my attention. i can attend to those tomorrow then. for now, i am going to end of with a movie recommendation.

the movie is "Lion", a story about how a young Indian boy got lost when he was at a age of 5 in India. as he searched through the streets of India, he witnessed certain sights that he has never come across before. fortunately he was soon adopted to an Australian couple. fast forward years later, as he entered college, he begun to remember his life back in India prior to wandering. it was then he started to based on the rough childhood memories to trace back to his hometown and to his biological family.

personally, i love this movie very much. the build up and the depictions of the kid's life is really good. there are scenes showing parts of India that not many people know or can comprehend through words. that is the beauty of film anyway. the cast is great, the flow is great.. real emotional ride. definitely worth the time to watch and enjoy. until next time then, cheers.
