fatigue

yes, this is an update of my life.

came home yesterday morning, going back to hall tonight. between yesterday and today i have been sleeping quite a lot to pay back my sleep debt accumulated during hall orientation camp. nonetheless, i am still feeling a little tired somehow. ohh man, i hope by tomorrow morning i will be rejuvenated for another 5 days of camp in the faculty of science. hope the 5 days will be filled with fun and that it will be smooth sailing too. the first round of CORS bidding as a NUS freshman starts this Thursday as well. busy and fun days ahead.

RHOC 2014

yes, this is an update of my life.

so for the past 4 days 4 nights i have been really busy.. having fun of course haha. this might sound silly but this was my first ever orientation camp in NUS. had to give those camps in June due to work commitment but i'm glad to be able to make it for this one and another one this coming week.

anyway, shan't really bore you with too much details on what we did and what not.. just going to highlight them. generally at the beginning, we had orientation games. dry games and wet games. walking around Raffles Hall and traveling around NUS itself to have fun as we work as an OG8 to complete tasks. also, we had sports try outs.. trying all the sports available in the hall. didn't really know how the handball is played and what not until this round of try out.. haha. i'm sure i'm not the mountain tortoise here. also had another common thing in NUS camps that is known as SP where everyone would be paired up with a secret partner to talk and play games blind-folded until the last part of the camp where we reveal our identities and what not. of course, it is as though a tradition in NUS camps, there was a morning/afternoon at Sentosa. been a while since i last been there so of course, it was a better experience. the OG also stay up late to talk cock and have supper nightly. such times are awesome. finale of the camp was a little lame and part surprising. those who entering Raffles Hall might be going through the same old thing so yeah be prepared.

well, the top picture is a group photo of our OG and our sister OG though the both of us did not really spend much time together like i expected. the bottom picture is our OG.. well not entirely everyone but those who were made to advertise the lotion.

so yeah, overall i would say it was a good experience throughout RHOC 2014. good people good times good memories. next up.. 5 days of SOW.

next two weeks

yes, this is an update on my life.

so yesterday, i've managed to checked into my hostel. tonight will be moving more things into it as well. the real uni life is about to start. tomorrow will be the FoS Tea Talk which will last probably the entire day. the day after would be the start of the first orientation camp. that will last to Saturday before a short break and another orientation camp starts for me on Tuesday. that will then last until the Saturday as well.

guess that it is then. the start of a two week orientation around the school, hall and faculty starts really soon. hopefully those camps will be a great experience. can't wait for them to start. been quite a few years since my last orientation camp.. haha and army camp does not count for obvious reasons.

got to live it, live it right

the following song is actually a cover. reason for me not showing you all the original by Spencer is because the cover is way better than the original. their voices are just so pleasing to the ears.

surreal

the last time i had to really study for a test was 3 years ago. the last time i had to work hard for an exam was 3 years ago. the last time i had to compromise sleep time for studies was 3 years ago. the last time i had to attend lessons, tutorials, lectures in a school was 3 years ago.

yeah after that, i got enlisted into NS and hardly touch the books or pen throughout my service term. my "student mechanism" is shut down for too damn long. now, as the days of uni creeps closer, i have to be mentally prepared. i hope i am. this weekend will be the start of a new chapter of life. will be moving into my hostel room before heading to orientation camps then to the start of freshmen year. what hall you asked? here it is again..

when i was younger, i always admire teens in their 20s studying in college and what not. i used to imagine how will it be like and what not. a decade later, here i am.. this just feels so surreal. well, nervous too, to be honest, not knowing exactly what to expect but i am willing to try and take on what's ahead for me. interesting days ahead.

suddenly tired

the title of this post is the direct translation of a beautiful chinese song sung by a talented Singapore singer.. if you are a Singaporean and you don't know him.. you aren't real Singaporean.

during difficult times

well, we all face such times. difficult times, of course, from the title. yes, we have them once in a while for whatever silly or unforeseen reasons. nonetheless, what i have always learned from these times, besides self-discovery, is that we should be mindful of the three groups of people.

1) people who put you into those difficult times
2) people who helped you through those difficult times
3) people who are there with you until difficult times

people from the first group should be taken note not for revenge. yes, let me be clear.. revenge is a vicious cycle so nope. so what's the point of taking note then? well, taking note of them will benefit you in the long run. now you know those are the people that can't be trusted at all. from simple favors to hanging out, it will never be worth it to look for them. sounds a little harsh but personally, i probably would give them one or couple of chances before cutting loose. everyone deserves a chance at minimum.. so yeah.

people form the second group should be taken seriously and treasured. they are friends to be kept for life. on top of that, remember to stand-by them in times they are in a similar situation with you when they helped you. such people are rare so yeah do treasure them and embrace them.

people from the third group should be noted but not harshly marked or what. they are still your dear friends but probably now you know that you can't really rely on them too much in the future. personally, i would maintain our relationship, improve it if possible.

so yeah, those are my personal point of view. i bet everyone has his/her individual take on such a subject so it is up to you at the end of the day.

the 4th star

a picture paints a thousand words..

stayed up to 6:30am just to catch a match that happens only once every four years.. the FIFA World Cup final match. it was between Germany and Argentina.. of course by now you ought to know what was the outcome. the normal 90 minutes were enough to separate both sides. throughout the nail-biting 90 minutes, both teams kept on testing each other's defense and what not. there were chances but rare. both held up tight though Germany had a dominating possession throughout. well finally nearly the end of the extra 30 minutes, Gotze became the German hero to score the winning goal. well done Germany for the fourth title.. the fourth star will be on your jerseys soon.

thank goodness it wasn't decided through a penalty shoot-out. personally, i find that the most painful way to lose in a knock-out competition but that's the way it is by far. anyway, i also have a new football idol.. the German keeper, Neuer.

Brazil 12th

if you have been following closely to the World Cup this year, especially Brazilian games, you would see this man on your television screen quite a few times. the Brazil 12th man.

this emotion-filled picture was taken during the semi-final match between Brazil and Germany which resulted to a record breaking scoreline of 7-1. this Brazilian fan stood alongside thousands of fans as they witnessed what is said to be one of the horrifying World Cup match in history.

at this point in time i cannot remember this man's name but he is pretty famous. not celebrity famous but just famous for his love of football and his his country. it was reported this World Cup is his 7th such event he is attending. every World Cup he would be there live to support Brazil. furthermore, he was featured in newspapers couple of times as well. so much so, he and many others called him the Brazil 12th man.

for those football idiots out there, the number 12 is used as a football team has only 11 players playing on the pitch. the term 12th man is used to represent the team's fan.

so later that same evening, he handed over the cup he was having to a young German fan. his words were translated. he told the German fan that Germany deserve the win and to go on to win the cup.. also, he requested her to bring it to the final match. the moment was of course captured.. how heart warming..

outclassed

early morning shock for everyone around the world.. unless you are either a fan of Germany or a hater of Brazil. Brazil was totally outclassed in the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2014. the first 45 minutes of the match ended with Germany having a commanding lead of 5-0. second half wasn't any much better for the host side as the game ended with a scoreline of 7-1. let's see the key highlights of the game.

congrats to Klose for becoming the top scorer ever in the final stages of a FIFA World Cup event. his record broke previous recorder Brazilian's Ronaldo's record. throughout the game Germany seemed to be playing good passing and unselfish plays, tearing the defensive line of the host time and time again. Neuer was great with his reflexes and confidence. unfortunately, he had to concede one last minute goal that denied other wise an awesome clean sheet. Brazil played with no backbone and no game plan. really sad to see a team crumble to such a stage. let's see how they will play in the 3rd placing play off this weekend.

here, recognise the legend's face.. Klose.

anyone who failed to see the rape session, the highlights are at the end of this post. i called it rape for 7-1 in a match between two compatible teams like Germany and Brazil is no longer called a football match.. here is the highlights.. 7-1.

RH

yes, this is an update on my life.

so things are starting to get busy these days. got into Raffles Hall for the first year of study in NUS which is good.. i need not worry about traveling to and fro home and NUS for at least the next 12 months. yeah to waking minutes before lessons and what not. so anyway that s not the point. i recently started going down there to help out with some RAG preparations which will take place on the 6th of August.. if i did not remember wrongly. so anyway, been painting and decorating and creating props and what not. meeting new friends and learning new things. rather good start i would say. hope for of such things come by in the next few weeks or so.

the bad side? waking up early and packing myself like a sardine as i make way to NUS RH. each time, the journey takes about 2 hours. also, leaving halfway because i have lessons to teach back in the east of Singapore. ohh wells, just doing what i can.

those things aside, NUS admin stuff is streaming in. bank loan stuff, camp stuff, hostel preparations, course preparation.. and stupid QET. really hope all go smoothly with minimal or no obstacles. really thankful to those friends that help me along the way.. be it with simple explanation to favours. i really appreciate them. my family has been supportive too.. so yeah me. i'm blessed.

four semi

another big game just passed early this morning. at midnight, the game between France and Germany kicked off. the game was really awesome with great suspense and constant heart attack moments throughout the game. in the end, Germany won by just one goal over France.

the free kick to the header goal was calssic. one can really see that they really have been practising their set pieces seriously during this course of competition. on the other quarter final match, Brazil won Colombia 2-1 to move one to the semi-final as well. as expected, Brazil and Germany are facing each other in the semi-final. really shocked and amused to see Colombia going against countless odds to make it this far into the competition as well. well done lads.

nonetheless, this round of semi-final would be Germany's 4th consecutive semi-final in four World Cups. says a lot about their consistency. really hope they go on to win the champions. might be slightly too early to say but i believe so. tonight will be another round of quarter final matches.

edging closer

yes this is an update of my life.

hello July. well yet another month has somewhat flew by despite the fact that i am not in school.. yet. t is July and the admin stuff regarding the admission into NUS and what not has slowly begun to kick in. so many deadlines to take note. so many things to do. so many other things to worry about. nonetheless, i'm doing the best i can and really hope all will go through smoothly.

July. a month filled with yet more events and what not. World Cup final. the silly QET nonsense. faculty camp. hall camp. life definitely get busy by the day as i will be starting to work and study at the same time. time will be more precious than ever. really hope i can still hang out with all those people whom i hold dear before school starts and during school as well. next 3 to 4 years of education might be tough but i choose to believe i can emerge victorious.

cheers.
