italian food

yesterday, or rather this morning at midnight, was yet another big match.. a real decisive one as well. Italy had to draw or win while Uruguay had to win to get their asses into the round of 16. Italy lost 1-0 to Uruguay at the end, heading home second World Cup in a row during the group stage. nonetheless, the game had a couple of controversies and what not. of all, the main one involved Suarez in yet another biting incident.

here is him tasting some italian food..

my respect for this guy is hanging by just a thread. yes, you are a good player with great skills and determination, having the ability to inspire a team but doing such acts is just disgusting and lacking sportsmanship.

the neighbourhood

everyone's primary schools are all nearby from where they live and of course, i was no exception. primary school was the six years where you foster the first few true life-long friendships. one get to start experiencing the life of a real student, having to juggle school work and CCA and luxury time. from then on, the load will the slowly increase in secondary school and poly/JC. primary school is where majority of your friends stay within 1km away from your house.

up to today i still stay in the house which i stay in when i was schooling in primary school. many of my primary school friends are as well. i realised this isn't exactly a bad thing but in fact this a rather interesting and good thing as well.

growing up after the primary school years, everyone venture into different secondary schools and some even travel over seas. despite the different lives we all live after the six years, at the end of the day we come home to a common neighbourhood. this is rather a blessing as once in a while, i would run into old friends and soon start chatting and catching. i see their parents too and one can also see, besides my parents, their parents are aging. well, i just guess this is all rather beautiful.

staying near to one another allows us to hang out once in a while for sports or meals or what not. we need not go through the hassle of finding a place to meet which is convenient for all of us for as we live in the same neighbourhood, the places we go can be decided quickly without much hassle of deciding which destination would not be a travel problem for all.

all in all, i'm glad i still remain here same as those years back then. i will always remain in the east.

opponents not enemies

stayed up to watch the England match against Uruguay early this morning at 3am. the result was 2-1 win by Uruguay over England. nonetheless, the match was great and full of great moments. moments ranging from good goals to good saves to respect.. like this one below.

Gerrard and Suarez are teammates back in Liverpool but are opponents yesterday. Suarez double nailed England down to the ground sending them to s struggle to qualify from group stage. the winner goal was somehow Gerrard's mistake but yet Suarez did have humility to comfort his dear friend and Liverpool captain. rather emotional moment. on top of that, Suarez was in tears after he scored the winner. you know shit is real when a footballer has tears. the amount of pressure and expectations on him must be great and that crucial winner goal must have lighten the great burden.

nonetheless, both teams fought really hard and well the result is just the result. painful to some, relief to others.. beautiful game no matter.

goodbye champions

in 2010, they won the World Cup. in 2008 and 2012, they won the Euro Cup. in 2014, they are eliminated from the World Cup at the earliest stage.. the group stage. it looks like the golden era of Spain is slowly disappearing. as a fan of Spain for 12 years now, i feel really sad and sorry for them. then again, their performance this time round wasn't really good enough to be deserved a spot in the top 16. well, one of my two teams is out. one remains.. Germany. let's hope they will go on to be champion.

fourtugal

okay, i not it is not really nice to make fun of any country names but that is pretty creative.. so much so i had to share it via a blog post title. if you are clueless, the word obviously comes from the Portugal. unfortunately, Portugal lost last night to Germany with a nightmare 4-0. poor performance leading to poor results. one man cannot carry a national team forever.

the first disappointment was Pepe's straight red card after a mini headbutt incident. pretty silly thing to do especially when his initial foul on a German player was overlooked. his temper has made him a regular ticking time bomb.. easily manipulated. Muller was just smart. next disappointment was Nani's performance. bad passes, bad dribbling, bad shots. no excuses.. bad.

credit to Germany's Muller.. he was exceptional brilliant throughout his play time. nonetheless, the game was still an exciting one with numerous dramas and what not.. if you are interested to see the highlights, here it is..

i got the fever

come people, don't be disappointed. it is just the World Cup fever. of course many of my posts will be related to it. technically, i will only talk about those matches that i actually watch.

yeah who cares my body clock is slowly getting screwed up. the excuse of "it happens once every four years" can still be used here.. haha. midnight? 3am? 6am? so long it is a big match i will watch. thank goodness my work as private tutor tend to always start from afternoon onwards so i can catch a little extra beauty sleep in the morning.

for those ignorant readers out there, World Cup fever will last until middle of July so yeah.. that's about it and now i shall prepare myself for yet another big match.. Germany VS Portugal.

the irony

today is a Sunday.. a weekend where most average people would sleep in for one last day before head on back to the long five weekdays again. nonetheless, that wasn't me this morning. woke up before 6am to catch the World Cup match between England and Italy.

well if you think i'm crazy, so be it.. haha just so you know such world event and such excitement comes only once every four years so why not? anyway, back to the game i guess England lost thanks to the fact that they did not make use of any of their set pieces. they were rewarded many corner kicks and free kicks but somehow or rather they just did not make use of it.. at some points in time they just literally throw their chances away.

in the end, the game ended with a win for Italy at 2-1. here is the most memorable moment of the game in case you are interested..

haha.. cute and funny at the same time.. probably a little pity as well. that dude on the stretcher is the England's physio. how ironic.. his job is to assist the England players recover from injury fast and what not but yet he got injured. well, you don't get to see that often.. one would normally see players being stretchered out not a staff. anyway, apparently, he got injured while celebrating England's goal to level the game at 1-1. dislocated ankle. sad sad dude.. hope he gets well soon.

5PA1N

well people, it is World Cup fever. i tend to support and keep close watch of my favourite players and teams. for teams.. Spain and Germany. so Spain played their opening game this morning against Holland.. a repeat of the previous World Cup final. poor results and performance from Spain i would say. check out the highlights here..

5PA1N

what to say? Holland really deserved the win as they show they were the better team.. controlling almost every minute of the game and every corner of the pitch. Spain defenders were probably sleeping most of the time. the overall feel i got from them was they had no idea how they were going to play the game throughout. Holland, on the other hand, knew exactly how they want to take on this game. nonetheless, good match and the next match that will be worth watching will be tomorrow morning's England VS Italy at 6am.

red hot

hello people.. almost 24 hours after my first ever experience in a live concert, i am still high over it. last night's concert was by none other than Taylor Swift. her final performance of the entire Red Tour after an odd 18 months ended right here in the Singapore Indoor Stadium. here are some of the pictures i had and take note that none of them are edited or what not. i'm not into those so yeah.. raw.

posing with a poster outside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.. photo credited
to Warren

the first photo i took the moment we walked into the compound

her opening performance with the song "State Of Grace"

her showing that she can still rock on the guitar on live stage

check out her dress.. the most gorgeous one in my opinion
and of course coupled with the song "Red"

this is the closest she got to our seats as she jammed couple of acoustic pieces

piano with one of the most emotional song by her yet, "All Too Well"

she is in white and the guy in black is Romeo.. yeah "Love Story" is the song here
and it is the first few songs that i heard from her many years ago.. nostalgic

her final encore performance

Zu Xiang and me did not want to leave so quick after the show.. photo
credited to her girlfriend

looks like she even posed for me to have a picture with her

overall, the entire performance is really hot and energetic. the pre-show by a local band was pretty awesome. the atmosphere throughout the show was great. it was like in a club just higher and replace the club music with the awesome voice of Taylor Swift and screaming fans. this made me love her even more. she went the extra mile to give her Singapore fans a personal touch.. talking about specific things the fans here did and what not. she really knows how to show real appreciation for her fans. man.. it was a good performance.. what more do i need to say? haha..

swift

hell yeah, seriously cannot wait for tomorrow. i have been gearing up since the start of yesterday spamming her songs on my playlist and what not. Taylor Swift concert is finally here tomorrow after months of eager waiting time. this great excitement is probably due to the fact that this will be my very first time watching one of my idols live. hoping it will be a really good experience.

meantime, i shall share the two personal favourite pieces from her. of course, i love almost all the songs but these are the best of them i guess.. personal preferences.

control

if there is one type of person or the person that i really wish to be, it will be those who can tolerate anything at anytime under any circumstances. yes, i'm talking about controlling your inner emotions. keeping calm allows one to make sound decisions and choices. keeping calm can prevent potential strains in relationships and what not.

well, don't get me wrong when i use the term "control". the control i talking here is not just about controlling your temper but any other negative feelings as well like sadness and what not. staying calm, keeping your composure can help you think clearly. at least that's what i realise when i try to keep my emotions in check.

as i mentioned earlier, i really respect those people who have the great control of their emotions. they will make any obstacles and challenges seem as though they are nothing to them. they will not be scratched or stained much by those hurdles and instead rule over those and carry on moving forward like they always have and always will. so, what am i among for now? well, i guess i really want to aim to such a situation whereby things that can annoy me or affect me won't have much effect on me in the future. of course, not to the extent of shutting everyone and everything out or being cold hearted or thick skull. i believe i can.. so can you.

in five days

like i said in earlier posts, June will be amazing as there are couple things to look forward to. in five days time, i will be watching my first ever live concert. the singer is none other than one of the singers whom i like, Taylor Swift.

years ago, she came here for a performance but i couldn't make it thanks to budget and time issues. however, glad that she is coming back and glad to have been able to get my hands on the tickets as well. first ever live concert.. i wonder how would the experience be.

one more week

i don't know about you guys, but i'm sure as hell i cannot wait for the event happening in 7 days time..

yes.. World Cup 2014 in Brazil is about to kick off for a month. once every four years football teams from all over the world compete to reach for the awesome trophy. it is rarely seen in terms of international football teams playing for their country. no, the Olympics don't really count.. World Cup is the real deal in football. definitely worth watching whether you are a football fan or not.

so yeah, starting next week and for about a month, hello to 3am or 4am matches and hello to nights with limited sleep. so glad it is before the start of uni. i heard the top three favourites this time round are Brazil, Argentina, Germany.. in that order. so to my betting friends, don't take my word for it. i'm just throwing it out there for you to figure.

five days late

yes this is an update on my life.

i realised i yet to post a post in the month of June and so here it is. well partly because i have been procrastinating i would say. had my house internet down for the last weekend and finally got the system up and running again thereafter. then i was lazy to update and what not until now. okay before i move on, i would like to say SingTel's technicians are so much more helpful and they know exactly how to reply your queries compared to the people taking your calls. probably nationality plays a part but whatever. i just find those people taking calls are reading out standard answers and are never really answering you with absolute confidence and assurance. to the technician that helped me days ago and the one that serviced the system last year at my home, thank you.. you guys are great workers. patient, understanding, detailed.

okay so moving on, recently this week i have been trying to cook. yeah away with the stereotypical views of guys cannot handle the kitchen. i bet i can handle it better than some girls.. haha. but anyway cannot really boast since those i have been cooking are rather easy and straight forward. tried preparing french toast and two types of banana pancakes. still cannot really flip the pancake well though but ohh wells.

besides that, after long months of delaying i finally finish the 6 movies of Star Wars. to be honest, personally i don't know why people can be that crazy over it. okay, the characters are cool and all but the storylines are.. dry and boring. like seriously, even the fight scenes are sloppy. well, if you are that bored like be now and then, you can try venture into the 6 movies.

this month will be really awesome. Taylor Swift is coming to Singapore and i will be at her concert. then a day after that, World Cup 2014 in Brazil begins. holiday season and of course there are lots of outings here and there.. though couple of friends are leaving country for exchange or what not. hmm.. so yeah, June please be nice to me.
