early post but anyway to all my friends out there who will be celebrating the great festive season.. HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!! this is the year of the horse.. so those who born in the year of horse, you are turning 12 or 24 or 36 or 48 or 60 or 72 or 84 or 96 or.. okay you get the idea.

so.. may this year of the horse be a good year for you. for those studying, may you cope well with the stress and that you will get the score you desire for your exams and assignments. for those working, may you be able to play and work hard to get those cash in. for those neither studying nor working, may you still remain happy and motivated in whatever you want to do or doing.

during the next 15 days will be a great period filled with fun but remember to stay safe. cheers.

couple for days and weeks ago, i mentioned about certain groups of friends many of us have that aren't really there when they are or at times seem to be not bothered about you. if you are new here, then you can read those first.

so soon afterwards, i also mentioned that where there is not so good, there is sure to be good as well. as promised, i will highlight those groups that are really really worth keeping for life. unlike those two posts, i will have my opinions here and there so yeah.

1) Steady Person: -

those people who falls in this group are those who are really proactive with friendships. they will initiate meet-ups and turn up for meet-ups no matter their buys schedule. they hardly give excuses when they cannot make it. their actions are always a sign that they put friends before self. they will go the distance to stay in touch. such people are well respected by me for i know it is never easy to get personal busy routine sorted out all the time.

2) The All-ears: -

those people who falls in this group are those who are always ready to listen to your rant, your praises, your troubles, your joy, your sadness, your nonsense. yeah, you might be thinking how hard could this be.. but wait. the thing is they won't comment much unless needed. they give sound suggestions and advices. they keep their mouth shut when they know all the person talking need is a human sponge to absorb their words. i personally find this people "smarter" than the rest of the friends. they know what to do and when to do in terms of conversation.

3) B1-B2: -

those people who falls in this group are those who are able to tell how you feel by just by looking at you. just like B1 and B2 from the show "Bananas In Pajamas",  these kind of friends can read you. they know what you are thinking and what you are feeling just by looking at you. your fake smile or laughter cannot deceive them. why are such people good? well, for starters, they can help you with awkward situations and what not almost instantly. they know what really makes you tick and what not as well. they are sort of psychic. i love such people because they give me the faith that there are many who might think and/or feel just like you. on another note, if you don't know B1 and B2, you are probably not a true 90s kid. period.

4) Doraemon: -

those people who falls in this group are those who are always reaching out to you, showing you great care and concern. no matter the stress and problems at hand, they will reach out a helping hand for the friends in need. though they might not always have the pouch of wonders like the real cartoon character Doraemon, they provide you the greatest gift when you are in need.. company. be it a phone call, a short meet-up they are there. they are more of the givers than takers in a friendship. on another note again, if you don't know the Doraemon in the cartoon series, then you aren't a true 90s kid as well.

5) Angels In Heaven: -

those people who falls in this group are those whom we see them as tough like siblings. like ageless in heaven, they are always by your side. no matter how long you all have not talk, once you start to for couple of minutes, the vibe and wavelength will be matching. furthermore, they make up of all the traits mentioned earlier. number of such people normally can be counted with our two hands. 

and there you have it, those are my ideas of really good friends, those who really can spare time and effort with you. such cool company of people are so worth keeping. keeping for life even. here's a pat to each of their backs.

while a number of you know i didn't really like the two years of JC, i got to say there are people who helped me enjoy a little and stand by my side many times. OG18 was, is, will always be an important part of my life. the photo was taken yesterday at Jalan Kayu after our supper and great chit chat session.

one of the topics we brought up was that the fact that how time flies and how old we are now. we used to find JC students and NS guys rather old and big sized. but now we have gone through those phases and so in someone else's eyes, we are mature and old as well. we now can drive instead of using public transport to meet up as well. really fascinating if you come to think about it. time flies.

of course, there are more OG18 people that usually hang out together that weren't i with us due to other commitments. likewise, i love them all and miss them all. hopefully all can be present someday at the same time. anyway, cheers to one of the awesome group of friends.

more rotten ones

few posts back, i related to some friends whom many of us have that are pretty much those who treat everything too lightly. they are the ones who always seem not so bothered in the friendship the parties shared. they are the ones who always seem to care less about almost everything. well, actually i had two more to add on from the four previously.

let me assure you all once again, i meant no personal attacks. all these examples are what i see around me. yes, some of my friends might be guilty of them but some are picked up from friends' friends. so take it easy when you all read.

5) Fresh Friends Entertainer: -
people who are under this group are those who love to keep the "latest" and "newest" friends. by that, i mean they would always love hanging out with those friends they met recently rather than those whom they know for years. they are willing to cancel appointments with the "older" friends just for their "newest" friends. nearly all effort and time will be invested on the "newest" friends. those "older" friends somehow become rather insignificant or forgotten.

6) Last Ditch Flyer: -
people who are under this group are those who will always alert the group who are about to meet on the last minute that they cannot make it. well, there are two sub-groups to this group as well. the first holds those who said they are alright and will be coming rather early but waited for the last few minutes to announce their departure. okay, if last minute stuff comes up, it's fine and it is appreciated to tell us day or two before. i doubt nothing that last minute would cock up unless death or crime is involved. the second holds those who kept quiet throughout the discussion of the date and time to meet and only said they cannot make it moments or hours before the meet-up. bitch please, nobody going to change to fit you now, especially when you chose to kept quiet all along. people from both sub-groups are pretty much those who love giving lame excuses in any situation possible.

okay, now i'm sure that's all for the bad friends talk. haha.. anyway, come to think about it, since i have this kind of shit to talk here, i should include something more positive someday. so yeah.. would love to talk about those cool good friends we have someday.

nope, you did not see the title wrongly nor did i spell it wrongly without realising it. in fact, that is exactly how i want to spell it. 

over the years, people around the world, including Singapore, have become more vocal as society insists all to be open and welcomed to the freedom of speech and what not. youths and young adults are especially vocal probably the problems they face tend to be more in numbers as they transit from being supported to being independent. nonetheless, not all face the same problems and concerns.

due to a greater changes in individual societies, which includes Singapore, the true identity is questioned. the true core and original identity is questioned as the lines between locals, permanent residents, foreign talent begin to blur.

many might have seen this video but if you have not, please take some time to do so. be open to the issues and comments raised. personally, i have to agree with some of her points. what defines a Singaporean today? where is Singapore heading towards?

don't get me wrong. i never said i am not proud to be a Singaporean. in fact, i am but still it is good if one remains open-minded to see views from others' eyes once in a while.

this post might come a little late but ohh well, i'm going to post it anyway. it is great to be a fan of CR7. finally, after numerous years since he last got the award, Cristiano Ronaldo finally won the Ballon d'Or. congrats.

friends. they are definitely an important part of everyone's lives. we need them. they need us. personally, i treasure those really great friends who would always be there no matter what or would make an effort to initiate meet-ups or reciprocate invitations to meet-up. yeah, you get my point. nonetheless, among the hundreds or thousands of people you come across and friends you make, there are always the handful that are just.. can't be bothered.

yes, it sounds pretty harsh and heartless but that's one word to described that handful. i'm sure most of you have those friends. haha.. after some thoughts, i came out with a few categories. note that one person might be "qualified" for more than one categories.

1) The Ghost: -
people who are under this group are ones who are heard but never seen. they talk to you and the group of friends on online chats or what not but whenever they are asked for their opinions on a meet-up, they are gone. which days free? where to meet-up? these questions fall to their ears and that's it. no reply. not even taking the liberty to say yes or no if options are given.

2) Faceless Star: -
people who are under this group are those who are attention seekers but not a good social friends. they would always be like "hey we should meet-up someday" or "gosh i missed this group of friends" but when the time comes to meet-up they go missing. it is as though you know their name and that they exist but never shows up.

3) Cheap Talk Moron: -
people who are under this group tend to love giving big talks but are not expected to be doing a damn thing. they would give you big ideas which are at times unrealistic but expect other people to take action. even worse for some would be even if the plan is up but not according to plan, they would make noise as if they could do a better job.

4) Failed Timer: -
people who are under this group are those who are always late for a great deal of time and still give stupid excuses, totally ignoring the fact that they are at some fault. it's okay to be late once in a while or if some shit really comes about but not when you are lazy or estimate the duration of your trip wrongly. first couple of times might be alright but recurring incidents might be nerve wrecking.

so yeah, that sort of sums out those friends who can't be bothered at times. don't get me wrong, they can be still worth being friends and what not with if you can put up with those. rather, these are signs that signal your friends that you can't be bothered, be finding time or making the effort to or what not. hopefully, there will be less such people in the future.

the next step

after countless attempts and what not, trying many agencies and what not, i finally got the students to give private tuition for the entire year of 2014. three students in total and all stay within a bus ride or 40 minutes traveling time. two P6 students and one P2 student. teaching one English/Science, one Maths, one English/Maths.

not giving tuition for nearly two years sure has its effects. nonetheless, i had the first on since i ORD two days ago and i would say the experience was good. i rediscover the joy of helping people with their academics and teaching. blessed to have such nice student and 'employers'. however, this is just one student. will be meeting the second student on the coming Monday and then the third on the second day of CNY.

yes, you read that right. second day of CNY. guess the parents want that too, so doesn't seem i have much of a choice. just that i need to prepare for that lessons probably two days earlier, considering that i will be out all day on first day of CNY.

ohh well, private tuition it is then. the next step in 2014. shan't find extra jobs in between for i need time for myself and my loved ones. 6 days of lessons are decent i suppose. not too busy or not too free.

#yolo

"You Only Live Once". or many social media users will hash-tag in as #yolo. the hash-tag can be seen on almost every social media website you know and visit. pretty common term especially for those younger people for many things are new and what not to them.

to my social media idiot readers, the term #yolo is used by one normally when he/she is trying something new and is excited about it or doing something daring that might result to unexpected outcomes.

well, however it gets really annoying when some of them start to use #yolo as an excuse to do silly things or what not. they will be like partying like an animal, knowing that they have more important things to do and reason like "come on, #yolo you know". they will be like keen to exercise to burn fats but still feasting like tomorrow there will be no food, exclaiming like "nevermind #yolo, die then die".

well, personally i think #yolo should not be an excuse to do stupid things repeatedly and what not. i respect the idea of living like there is no tomorrow. however, living like there is no tomorrow and letting yourself totally out of control or loose are two really different things.

by the way, you don't live once but you live daily just that you die once. haha.. ohh well i guess #yolo sounds better than #yodo any day.

welcome to 2014 once again my fellow readers. actually i slept through at least half of the first day of the first day of 2014.. ohh the effect to having weird and irregular sleeping patterns.

so anyway, the year has just started off and i'm sort of kicking start my internal engine to do productive things. now i need a place to flaunt whatever i've done and have been doing and will be doing later soon.

i've signed up with more private tuition agencies and also tried to reach out to 7 parents so far. now i just have to wait a little more patiently as they assess my application and what not before they decide whether to employ me. fingers crossed here. next is my PSC scholarship application. essay near done and application form near completion so i guess i can submit it as soon as possible by the middle of January. also, i have read finish two more books i borrowed earlier somewhere in the middle of December. i know i might be rather slow in my reading but i had a lot of play time and other things to attend to anyway. 

later after posting this and probably after my dinner, i shall head on to open the newly bought 2014 planner and start jotting down events and important dates and appointments. on top of that, i shall make a list of things to buy for CNY. well, mainly clothing and wearing accessories anyway.. haha.

hmm bright start to my 2014 especially when last night's EPL was pretty entertaining and interesting. good results for the Arsenal fans and Man Utd haters.

those aside, let's move on to talk about local talents. actually, i am not a very big fan of local talents useless one is really great and awesome. and when i say local, i mean 100% Singaporean and not those imported athletes representing us for SEA Games or Olympics. so anyway, local musicians are rare but not extinct. came across this pretty decent on recently. the band name is "The Summer State". came across them on radio and internet and thought i should share it. here it is.. enjoy!!
