cliché post

so this is it people, the 31st of December for the year 2013. it is the last day of the year, no matter you enjoyed the ride or not.

yeah i bet many of us will expect people to say things like "this new year, i'll be a new me" or "i'll make a change from today onwards for the rest of the year" or what not. their Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Instagram, Tumblr might be flooded with long lists of resolutions and bucket list and what not. i think somehow, ever since the internet and social media have been a big part of everyone's lives, such things are pretty common. while some are condemned, there are those that are pretty good. i mean "good" here are those that are realistic and unlike those that require one to change his/her character and what not.

no worries, i don't like going by "new year new me" motto but rather rethinking what i should be achieving the coming year. i know it is cliché but i am still going to do it anyway. shall share my so-called resolutions.

1) money is root of all evil.. and happiness
if you say money cannot buy happiness, you are using it wrong and probably should give some to me. money can bring happiness through satisfying your cravings and helping people. so anyway, my point is i want to make more money. hmm.. okay wait let be rephrase that. i want to save up enough to pay for at least one semester of university schooling and to be able to enjoy myself as well. still waiting for my first assignment of tuition to come but i'm sure it will be soon. going to try to save 50% of what i earn every month thereafter.

2) aiming honours
university is starting in August 2014 for me. means i'll be back to face the monsters of grading and assignments on a regular basis. this will be probably the last stretch of full-time studying before heading out to the real working society and adulthood. nonetheless, i have to do my best and aim to get results to qualify myself for honours. so that will be at least GPA 3.5 out of 5 for every single semester. might be more but i'm aiming that no matter what.

3) for those who are dear to me
last couple of years in army i loved reading subjective online posts and articles. i could not help but to believe some authors stating that many in their 20s will start burning bridges and what not. now just turning 20 earlier this year, the start of this ordeal can be seen. however, i can understand those who have burn those bridges. probably too many friends and groups to hang out considering that the day stays at 24 hours and the amount of things expected to be done is piling. well, either way it is really time to rank those who are dear to me and what not already. yes, i know saying "rank" might not be a pleasant word in this case but at least it brings out the point i want to put across. i want to make sure i have time for all who care for me and are dear to me, be them be family or buddies or close friends.

4) why not make bridges
no more ideas of burning bridges, building new ones are good as well. new school, new environment, new friends, new experiences. yes i am somewhat excited for this year. for sure there will be new friends made but lets hope there are those that can be kept for life. true friends, i mean, not life partner. life partner is another issue.. haha.

okay, i think i covered the main things that i really want to achieve in the coming year. however, 2013 is not made possible without friends and family. so i would like to also take this time to thank those around me for making the year an enjoyable and interesting one. don't care the bad moments for they aren't worth remembering at all.

last but not least, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you out there in advance. may this year be a joy filled one for you. stay safe and see you next year. :)

the next chapter

this morning i woke up and carried out the mundane habit of checking my phone and computer for updates, messages and what not. i saw the date was the 29th today and turned to my calendar. the initial feeling i got was shock to realise that it is just couple of days before a new year arrives.

how come time flies even when i do not fully enjoy all the time?

well, anyway i realised the coming of the year 2014 marks the start of yet another chapter of my life. the previous chapter was nearly two years long and yes, some of you might guess it, it was NS. that chapter has ended. a new one has started.

started out this year in camp doing stand-by on 1st Jan. could remember so clearly somewhat celebrating the start of 2013 in the stand-by bunk. couple of months later we see the first batch of people whom we were close to ORD. middle of the year, another one ORD as well. then come the rotting and counting down to ORD for my batch. now, post ORD, we are enjoying life by working and playing and hanging out now and then. speaking of which, there is no input of money for me.. oops. still crossing my fingers though.

gosh, i really wonder what 2014 will bring. i'm not a reservist man, an old man haha, and so IPPT and mob manning are annual nonsense. besides that, i'll be embarking on, hopefully, the last full-time studying routine come August 2014. somewhat nervous and excited at the same time. ohh well, time will tell how they would be.

jingle bells

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!

i hope this season of giving has been awesome for those who celebrate or do not celebrate this occasion. either way, it is an extra rest day for those who are working and what not.

personally, my family don't celebrate christmas besides making full use of the sale around the malls around Singapore to buy whatever we think we need and want. this year was no exception. besides, being together as a family, there wasn't real celebration.

anyway, just finished watching the movie "The Butler" on my laptop. finally, another heart-warming show worth watching though some might find that the 2.5hours show a little too long for such a show. well, it is based on a true life story of a black butler of the White House who had served 8 different presidents. throughout the course of 34 years of service, he witnessed, together with his family, the changes and struggles America go through from the 1950s to present. again, worth watching.

no laze

after coming back from the short getaway family trip to Malaysia, i've been lazing around and most of the time really enjoying by holidays by not doing anything fruitful and that includes sleeping.. a lot. however, today was probably the first productive day since i ORD.

managed to write an essay in preparation for some scholarship that i will be applying really soon and also applied for private tuition. i hope i get the scholarship though the odds are really against me this time. nonetheless, one will not know exactly until one tries so yeah.. i'll be trying for it. hope i get the call from the private tutor agency soon so i can really start work and earn some money. no good to have money out and nothing coming into my bank account.

after today, i shall strive to be productive in more days than not. catching up on shows is semi-productive i would say.. haha. okay but on serious note, i shall really start get serious and start working and do some leisure reading to get the brain working and not slack too much.

summing the year with YouTube

as the year 2013 is coming to an end in less than a month's time, many are reflecting on what they have done for the past 12 months. be it achievements, failures, lessons or experiences, all are worth treasuring and embracing. for all these elements are what make you you at the end of each year.

with so many social media improvements recently, Facebook event helps you sum your 2013 up in statuses and pictures on your timeline throughout the entire year. decent effort, i would say. well, YouTube also sums up the world in 2013 in one video as well. enjoy.

from Cameron to Malacca

hello everyone, got those photos from my trip transferred to my laptop so i can finally share some with you all. went to Cameron on Saturday early morning through a very very long coach ride and explored the highlands for half the trip before heading down to Malacca for the last night and finally back to Singapore yesterday evening. coach was practically the only mode of transport we used throughout the 4D3N getaway. here are few of the photos from my iphone.

first stop was lunch stop somewhere in the middle of somewhere in Malaysia.

the room fatbro and i shared in the hotel of Cameron Highlands. they did not have nor need
air-con system in the rooms. during the night time, the weather is cold enough to keep chill
the room as long as you leave the windows open.

the morning view from the balcony of my room, it was pretty cold even in the early morning.

next day, first place we visited on Cameron Highlands was Rose Valley. this wall is near the
entrance of the world of flowers.

the next many photos are few of the many flowers found in the garden. they are all so bright
and beautiful: -

shot with fatbro. so glad i wore bermudas that day. so much walking around and chance of
getting those pants soiled.

photo credited to the person not in the photo.. haha.

some hanging wooden house in the garden.

next stop was the Bee Farm. somehow there are some lucky bees that managed to escape
and fly freely around the area. so had to be careful where we put our hands there.

one of the many boxes that house an average of 5000 to 10000 bees in the farm. there were
many signs around indicating that the owner will not be responsible for any bee attack. so, one
can be daring to open the artificial bee hive.

more boxes that house the bees.

the following stop was supposed to be a strawberry farm where they let you pluck strawberries
on your own at a fixed cost. somehow, my family decided to visit this place on our own instead.
it was nearby anyway.

one of the many pictures in the Time Tunnel was this decade old picture showing one of
Singapore's founding fathers, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. and as you would guess it, the boy beside him
is none other than our current prime minister.

old bottles collected by the private owner of the Time Tunnel and put on display.

more old bottles.

the second biggest tea plantation in Malaysia was the next stop. the slopes were too slippery for
us to go explore part of the hills.. ohh well but the view and air was awesome.

the view of the sky from the top of the tea plantation.

well.. technically, i'm not plucking the leaves.

the hotel room fatbro and i shared for the last night in Malacca. this place had way better wifi
than in the highlands. well, perks of the city.

next few pictures was the last day of exploring in Malacca. all i know was many buildings were
super old and were build by the Europeans and what not: -

okay, that is about it. all the above pictures posted are not edited at all so pardon me if some of the lighting isn't that great or what not.

Malaysia is a good country to explore and shop but i still miss the roads of Singapore for it is more orderly here and what not. however, Malaysian drivers are way more patient and forgiving than Singaporeans. haha.. that's the main observations i had during the long coach rides.

fight fight fight

back from a short getaway from reality. just got back from the trip to Cameron Highlands and Malacca the last four days and three nights. shall update on them and share many photos taken probably tomorrow or the day after. for now, i feel like talking about the Little India riot.

was sadden and shocked to hear of that news two days ago when i was still high up in the hotel of Cameron Highlands. it came as a great shock at the very beginning. it has been say what, almost half a century, since Singapore had such outbreak of violence. and for a moment i felt that Singapore was not as safe as it used to be but the very next moment was different.

i started to feel really worried for those policemen/policewomen and paramedics and firefighters who responded to the entire nightmare. having many close friends serving in SCDF and police force currently makes me wonder if they would be alright. so far, none of them were directly affected, hopefully this good news stay for long.

came back home to see the responses and the many videos and news on the incident and can't help to notice something. the terms "bangla", "foreigners" are being loosely used for stereotyping purposes and what not. well, despite the incident, to be honest, i still appreciate those workers who have been quietly building things you all are living and working in. you seldom hear them complain, so why let one crazy moment of insanity turn one into hating them and what not?

well, to cut things short. they are human as well. they have families to feed. they have their own worries and problems. they make mistakes like we all do. so respect them and show humility. last but not least, hope this entire episode will pass by quick with minimal additional damage.

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall"

it is a pity to lost another great guy in less than a week. a leader who fell a thousand times but never stopped there. a leader whose courage and will inspired many. a leader whose legacy will run forever.

rest in peace, Nelson Mandela. you will always have a place in our hearts.

catching frozen fire

weird title not. yesterday was probably the first time in recent years.. or life, whichever, that i got to the cinemas and watch two movies in a day. managed to catch the movies "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "Frozen".

well, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" was nice, lots of action but the only disappointing thing about the film will be they decide to cut a lot of parts of the book. yes, it is normal for movies to be shorter and more brief than books but this was to the extent where some aspects of the storyline was not at its best quality. to those who did not read the book, i figure you will love it more than those who read though non-readers will be slightly confused towards the end. i can't wait for the next one on the third and final book of the series.

as for "Frozen", it is more or less a typical Disney cartoon show. this one is more of musical as well and though i'm not a big fan of shows having too much singing, i would say the songs and pieces in this show were great. the storyline was pretty original and at least the end of the show wasn't that predictable. watching all the snow and ice in the show can send one feeling colder too, especially in cinemas.

been spending a lot lately and now no more NS means i need to get a job soon and earn some income to support myself. left not much cash to spend but i'll figure a way. anyway, can't wait for Cage session with the usual NS soccer buddies tomorrow and short getaway to Malaysia this coming weekend.

a tribute

it has been a while since i pay tribute to an idol of mine. rather unfortunate that a day ago, the world lost yet another celebrity due to a tragic car accident.

the world mourns the unfortunate death of Paul Walker, who is famous for being the lead for all installments of the movie franchise "Fast & Furious". goodbye to a great and inspirational celebrity. goodbye to the kind and cheerful Paul Walker. the movie franchise will be so different without you. you will be missed.

last but not least, thought i would like to share a great quote from him

"i live by 'go big or go home'. that's with everything. it's like either commit and go for it or don't do it at all. i apply that to everything. i apply that to relationships. i apply that to like sports, i apply that to everything.that's what i live by. that's how i like it"

rest in peace, Paul Walker (12th Sept. 1973 - 30th Nov. 2013).

thankful for all the tough times and good times my friends and buddies have given to me. so glad to have met them and having to serve NS through the rain and shine with them. long speeches can be dry and boring. so..

your online identity

okay i think i am inspired to write this post after watching the video i came across the other day (the one i posted in the previous blog entry) and after reading an interesting article on Though Catalog also couple of days ago.

well, the title says it all. so long you play online games or use the social media today, you will have the online identity. you are an officer or high ranking player in a game. that's an identity. you feel proud and happy about unlocking and completing countless sophisticated tasks and missions. you are the boss of a shop or city you run in an online game application. that's an identity. you are the boss, the one to call the shots and what not. you show people your real-life achievements and experiences on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. that's an identity. hopefully, your real identity.

many a times on social media, we tend to attempt to shape the ideal life we hope for subconsciously. one do so by sharing pictures and videos and experiences of their life online regardless if it is a simple game accomplishment or real-life achievement. the amount of likes and comments will somewhat reflect on how many people think your life is awesome and what not. get the picture?

well, you don't see people posting many pictures or videos of their sad moments beside the rantings so as to gain comfort or to release the agony in them. one tend to post more positive stuffs about their lives, right? there, that is because we all want to be in that live forever. happy, proud, sense of accomplishment.

at this point, i would like to say that i am not against anything or anyone here. yes, sharing information about one's life and what not on his/her social network is great. after all, sharing the good moments with friends and families will always tend to amplify one's happiness. people looking at them would also be happy and proud of the person. so yeah, spread the joy.

then why am i bringing all these up? well, just want to caution anyone who might feel sad or down whenever no one likes of give positive remarks on your posts and what not. all these does not mean you are a failure or you are less ideal than the others who are constantly receiving those likes and good comments.

here, i would like to quote from the article i read on Thought Catalog. the author mentioned, "it's fantastic 75 people liked a photo of you in leather pants, but how many of these people could you call for a cup of coffee on a rainy day".

that's a great line for many to ponder actually how many of those people will really spend quality time out with you. so true, isn't it? yeah hope you all get the picture. the author also ended off saying, "life is short; you might as well spend it being the best and most honest version of yourself".

once again, i have no intention of targeting anyone or any single incident. just an opinion. just wanting to share the insightful topic to send you readers thinking.

anyone who is interested in the article i quoted from, it is "The Obsession With Making Ourselves Appear Awesome On Social Media" by Christopher Hudspeth. the link is http://thoughtcatalog.com/emma-howie/2013/11/the-obsession-with-making-ourselves-appear-awesome-on-social-media/.

a video pictures a million words

the following video i'm about to show you is pretty much how social media has made us in today's context. you might find the scenarios similar to yourself or your friends. well, let's all be honest and say 99% of us using the social media today are guilty of this. pay attention to the characters of the video besides the main guy character.

if a picture pains a thousands words, this video pictures a million words.

the film portfolio

my camp items have all been brought home after today's stay in camp. will be free from camp until this Friday when i can finally take back my precious pink i/c in the morning.

that aside, i've been reading books that interest me.. namely anything related to financial planning, investments, psychology. for my friends who have been studying on finance, one should know something about the personal portfolio when you start being active on the stock market and what not. then the term "portfolio" sets me thinking.

for some of you who might know me well, you might know i am sort of a crazy fan of movies and good TV series. so much so i watch almost all kinds from cartoon to crime to comedy to love to family, all but horror unless the storyline is exceptionally good which it isn't common. well, obviously i have been watching tons and tons of shows and movies. occasionally, i would talk about couple of them here.

so why can't one have a film portfolio? haha that will be so cool because mine will be filled with at least 300 titles for sure if you include all the movies and TV shows i have watched and am still watching. i point this out because i am curious how will such a thing look like if it really exists. hmm..

the bitter and the sweet

yesterday evening was the last ever military parade in the 22 months of NS. the ORD parade is the parade i'm talking about. the parade was organized obviously to show appreciation to the people who are soon to be NSmen for their commitment for the past many months.

to be honest, the parade and ceremony made me think twice about the feeling i'll feel when i ORD. the happiness of one who ORD might be just overrated. well, don't get me wrong. of course, when i ORD in a week's time, i will definitely feel really happy. however, my point here is, while the general population will always echo out the fact that they are happy no being a NSF anymore, i'm sure they will definitely feel a little sad. sad to leave their buddies and friends who they have been through think and thin, rain and shine together for countless days, creating bittersweet and at times silly moments. the friendship and bonds forged are beyond words to describe.

well, at least that's what i see and what i think i feel when i take back my pink i/c from S1 next week. NS might give a lot of things that make us curse and feel annoyed but the best things it gives will be lifelong buddies.

on another note, away from the mundane NS talk, i need to find a job really soon. NUS also spammed me with many papers and what not to read. read twice through everything to be clear of whatever is happening. not much time to stop and rest. the pressure to send one moving forward is always there. the only thing one can hope for is the strength and stamina to find time to slack and play once in a while.

to end off, i congratulate those who ORD today and those who are in the next two weeks. to my uni friends out there, all the best for the remaining papers. end year is coming. look forward to it.

the last leg

i can't resist from not talking about this. but i am going to be off the NSF status in two weeks time. so exciting. this coming week will be the last and final week i see some of my platoon mates. the earliest people of the same batch will be ORD-ing this coming Friday.

besides this Friday, i'll be in camp daily. guess really have to clear my cupboard in camp and bring home all the nonsense come this Thursday after the ORD parade. besides that, i need to find a job and what not to do after i ORD.

gosh, i can smell my pink I/C.

silly comparison

my ORD date coming soon.. roughly about 20 more days and i'll be off the full time national service. long and crazy and interesting journey it has been. my point today is nothing really related to NS but something i really see clearly and understand through NS. however, don't get me wrong, this is pretty applicable even in other areas. the "this" i'm talking about is comparison.

well, it is definitely natural for people to compare with one another from time to time but i realise that when comparing to others, one would be better off to shut up if you don't really know what to say or comment about it. i'll give you two examples, the first one is something i picked up during NS and the other is something i picked out chatting with friends from NS and uni at the same time.

example 1: -
there are many different types of vocations and units in NS. the demands and intensity of each vary a lot from time to time. when talking to other NS friends from different units and/or vocations, we usually would not leave out talking about the craziness of the life we live in camp day in day out. to be honest, i find couple of them really way crazier than mine and few more slack than mine. more often then not, some of us will start comparing and complaining who has the worst life in NS, expecting to be crown champion and gain everyone's sympathy at the end of the discussion.

example 2: -
during a chat with my group of friends consisting of some currently serving NS and some currently studying in the various universities, Girl A suddenly, apparently without putting much thought, exclaimed about the stress she was facing and wish she could sign on NS after seeing Guy Z said that he could rest. the time of the event was about 10pm.

so my point is, many a times people might talk about or share stories about their lives and for sure you would not have the chance or have not even live through it as he/she has. like i don't understand the stress of a university student or the physical demands of a friend in an infantry unit. likewise, my female friends don't understand the lives of NS though guys tend to have few minutes before lights out to really slack and what not.

this leads me to my initial point about comparison. yes, you will tend to compare here and there but if you can't find the right words to respond, no one will label you as a mute. all we can always do, as friends or buddies or boyfriend/girlfriend, is to stand by them and listen to them before encouraging them. don't go like "ohh please you think your life sucks? mine is worse like this...". this will definitely throw the whole talk into a war zone thanks to some silly remark from a mere small comparison in your head. be sensitive, not blunt and foolish.

el grand clasico

hello people. i'm so glad that this weekend came for the past five days were super tiring and lame. in camp the whole week in months and having some course despite the fact that we are ORD-ing in a few weeks time. ohh well, what's over is over.

the first day of the weekend will be a great one too. ever since i became a fan of Real Madrid football club, tonight will be the first time watching them online live fighting a big match. yes my Spanish league friends, we all know today is El Grand Clasico. no matter the result, the match will definitely be a great one.

enough said.

instagram

the title says it all but don't be disappointed. i've yet to get an account or what not for Instagram. i remembered few of you asked me why not and i'm here to explain.

realise i included the words "yet to" so yeah to make you all happy a little, i'll create one day but again, not now and not in the coming weeks. my reason being Instagram is a social platform to share pictures and what not of your life. personally i find it close to Tumblr somehow but Instagram probably for more personal stuff? i don't know.. that's my own personal reasoning. so anyway, as you can guess i don't take many pictures especially when i yet to ORD. if i were to have Instagram like now, it will be dead or be a sausage fest most of the time.. yeah you get what i mean.

so earliest i'll be getting one should be after i ORD.. which is like six more weeks or in December earliest.

that aside, i came across a good website on my Facebook newsfeed yesterday evening. i went to read it and find that it really serves a good explanation and help for our lives. so in case anyone is in a mess now or seek understanding about yourself, you should take a stroll in the website below.

the power within

hello people, before i carry on talking about what i've been doing in past couple of days just take four minutes of your time to listen to this sentimental song.

okay, how did you find it? the reason why i ask you to listen to it first before carry on reading is because of one thing.

some of you might know this band or heard of their existence due to playing "Guitar Hero" or whatsoever. however, i'm sure many of you might not. well, let me drop the bomb to those who don't know them. DragonForce is a band that specialize in playing songs with the following genre.. power metal, heavy metal, speed metal.

unexpected? i'm sure some of you might be. well that is the reason. if i were to say they are metal band, i'm sure many would just ignore. haha.. never judge a metal band, my friends.

anyway, i brought this up because i've been spamming pieces from DragonForce the last couple of days. from just listening to the songs to watching there music videos and live performances. yeah another metal band that i like. the above piece actually has another version but it is power metal. so i shan't post here, in interest of most of the readers, but to those interested can go find on YouTube.

music aside, i finally had my stitches from my mouth from the last wisdom teeth surgery. as 'practice', i too had McDonald's right after that to enjoy chewing the food i like without worrying about anything in my mouth. ohh the freedom and sweet victory. so, all four wisdom teeth out.. there goes my wisdom. yeah please.. somehow i read somewhere scientists believe they are a hindrance to one's physical limits and capabilities. that is why most athletes have their wisdom teeth removed as well. hmm let's hope i can run further and become stronger.

who am i kidding? i need to get back to exercise before aiming for that goal. MC for one week but never exercise for more than one week. so guilty. time to start training, be it in camp or out of camp, from tomorrow onwards.

no more series

after about one month, i finally watched the last episode of the last season of the last TV series that i have been following. it is "Breaking Bad". though there are still some other series of shows that are still ongoing, whatever seasons are done i've watched them all. "Breaking Bad" had it series ended just half a month ago.

the show started off with Walter White diagnosed with lung cancer and him working with an ex-student Jesse Pinkman to cook meth. throughout the series they did business on and off, outsourcing and exploring and what not. "Breaking Bad" is really a good show though i find the first season rather dry and draggy but trust me by the time you reach the third season, you just want to watch all the way.

having said that, i've spent my MC due to wisdom teeth surgery watching the last season. at first i thought of keeping the last three episodes to this weekend but i just could not resist.

so anyway, to those who have watched it as well, here is the best parody ever by Jimmy Fallon. when i say "watched" i mean that you have watched from the season one episode one to season five episode sixteen. the jokes are damn hilarious and you won't get them if you did not really watch the entire series.

my stars

yesterday's post was pretty negative. then again i realise everything has its own good and bad. so today i'm going to show the good. with international football matches happening, there are fewer football matches to follow worldwide, unlike those normal weekends where there are millions of leagues and many games per league going on. so in other words, those playing for their country are of good standards. some star players i love are not in EPL and so this is the time that i really can see my stars. let me show you.

1) Fabregas (Spain)
he is my favourite playermaker and attacking midfielder in the world of football. i can't usually see him play for he is in Barcelona (Spanish League) during the weekends. he was from Arsenal (EPL) though and in fact, he was part of the reason why i started to support Arsenal (EPL) six years ago and the main reason i support Spain when it comes to any country cup competition. love to see him controlling possession and setting up great attack movements with his unselfish play. side note, google his image and you might realise he looks a bit like Zachary Quinto.. haha just shorter.

2) Giroud (France)
i started to notice him a lot ever since his arrival to Arsenal (EPL) a couple of seasons back. this striker started quiet but sure improved a lot and up his level in recent months. love to see his calm composure in front of goal and finish well. though heading is not his best talent, i love his footwork.

3) Ozil (Germany)
when i started supporting Real Madrid (Spanish League) i already see this playermaker and winger as a huge potential. sadly that club could not make full use of him but thank goodness he left one of my supported club to another.. yes he is now in Arsenal (EPL). love to see him setting up goal chances for his teammates, scoring, timing his run so he would not be called for offside.

4) Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
again, this guy is playing in Real Madrid (Spanish League) on normal weekends. so during internationals, i can really see him play without much other games to follow. this guy's commitment to football and charity is remarkable. i think this nice guy, and probably David Beckham, is well known to non-football fans and girls for he is rather active in the mass media as well. that aside, i really like to see his unstoppable freekicks and heading shots. hardly anyone can beat him in the air.

okay, that's enough football talks for these two days. funny how those legends i love each are from different countries. anyway, i promise to post something nothing related to NS or football the next time i update, which is like probably tomorrow or Monday.

damn i realise i blog a lot when i'm on MC or off or leave. :)

stupid internationals

i just realise that the last time i MC for wisdom teeth surgery and now, there is something in common. both period the weekends do not have any EPL matches or any league matches for that matter. this is all thanks to the FIFA World Cup international qualifications. not say i'm a big fan when players play for their mother countries but it is just less exciting until it really reaches the FIFA World Cup season. the next one will be about 235 days or so in Brazil.

besides that, having internationals mean players are prone to be injured and the clubs they play for might suffer quite a bit. having internationals mean the matches are really played in odd hours. in Singapore time, they play around 2am or 3am most of the time. i support Spain international football but one cannot expect me to stay up to such odd hours to watch all the time.

nonetheless, thank goodness for free online highlights to watch and catch up on their performances when i wake up.

football aside, my cheek seem to be less swollen from the surgery. hopefully i can go out come tomorrow. staying at home 24/7 is shit.

yet another two bones are gone

after this morning's visit to CGH, i finally had the last two of my wisdom teeth removed. left side this time. hello to 5 days of MC and at least two days of occasional pain and not being able to eat the food i like. ohh well, shall catch up with my shows and movies throughout this long break.

with that aside, i've been spam playing pieces by Lindsey Stirling since i got back from surgery. i don't know what to say about her other than she is so damn talented. i have fallen in love with like more them half of the songs in her album. point to note, normally i only love way less than half in any album.. yeah somehow it works that way. you all should listen as well. if you want sneak preview of her talent, refer to my previous post.

brain dead

hello October. two more months left to go before NS untie me from the chains.

anyway, boring military life aside, it is somewhat towards the end of the year already. closer to ORD also means i need to prepare for whatever i want to do at least from new year to start of life in NUS. now the MOE internship and PSC scholarship registration are opened, meaning i have to start getting busy with the applications of both. or so that was what i thought this morning. i started the MOE internship application and submitted it with the rough 200-words essay as well. then something hit me. having not writing essay based on a given topic for so long, it was pretty tough, in terms of the duration spent, for me to get it up. i was appalled by my dead brain. guess i have something more to work on.

most likely will be taking Applied Mathematics in NUS when i start next year, so that goes without saying that i ought to start sharpening my Math skills starting from upper secondary topics to JC ones. on top of that, my English was pretty poor and i have to take some essay test next year. better start reading and learning to write well i guess. the PSC scholarship also requires me to write a 500-words essay. so going to get my writing skills back. not skillful to begin with, but at least i want it to be acceptable.

two more months

yes, i'm on off at this very moment and that is why i can update here. just felt like checking in here to update you all on what's going on and what not after realising the past posts haven't been telling much.

i finally watched up to the third and latest season that is available on DVD of "Game Of Thrones". u guess this series, no doubt, has drawn me to loving it. can't wait to start watching the 4th season once all the episodes have been aired on TV. despite the occasional bloody and nude scenes, i find the storyline and the flow of the show really good. okay, i admit that the first few episodes were confusing, so much so that i had to refer to Wikipedia a couple of times. nonetheless, after half of the first season, one should know the places and characters and catch whatever they are talking about. this series is strongly recommended.

started on the award-winning series "Breaking Bad" about a week ago. onto the second season now though i know the last episode of the final 5th season was aired yesterday. shan't really read the ending but to watch episode by episode, season by season. this show is rather slow but good i would say. took me just two episodes to realise why i find it slow pacing. this show rarely has background soundtracks. you know those sounds that are played when the suspense is building or those when someone discover something awesome or those when someone lovable died? yeah this show got almost none of those soundtracks so yeah still worth watching. going to watch finish the series hopefully by first half of October.

haha yes i know the last sentence makes me sound silly like as though i have a plan to watch whatever i yet to watch. to a certain extent, i do. let me explain why. currently serving NS, i cannot really set my mind to do something demanding like revising on topics that i want to work further in university.. in this case, mathematics. then i have many movies, about 60, and the "Breaking Bad" series and the 10th season of "Two And A Half Men" yet to watch. i aim to watch all before i ORD so that once i ORD-ed, i can start doing real productive work and what not. play now to ORD. come ORD, i probably play a little and travel before starting slow on books and get a job.

two more months, bitches.

meme

recently, for some reason, i have decided to start to be a semi-troll online. so naturally i started to download  and create numerous meme onto my computer. all these to prepare for appropriate times to put them in use. anyway, i have plain template pictures and to those of you might gain this interest, feel free to browse my templates.
